Discipleship

Our Discipleship Program exits to:  Develop fully devoted followers of Christ.  We believe that by studying together, applying the Biblical text, studying selected Christian writings, and reflecting on one’s life journey of faith we will be:

1.  Growing in our understanding of God’s word,

2.  Developing the heart and character of Christ,

3.  Learning to lead a life of love and service.

Just as the disciples of Jesus’ time were called to follow Him, so also are we called to follow him, as an apprentice would, growing in our knowledge of God’s truth, conforming to Christ’s values, and living out Christ-like behaviors in our relationships with others.

Thus, we have three emphases:  transformation of the head, heart and hands.  This will be evident by an increased knowledge, a changed heart, and service and love shown to others.

CORE CLASSES

New Life
An interactive adult class seeking relationship with God together.
Teacher:            Sharon Binkerd & Brent Baker
New  Life is a group that encourages members to genuinely seek a deepening relationship with God, through God’s Word.  God’s Word is seen as continually relevant to life and is the source of much open and thought-provoking discussion.  The class consists of a variety of persons, representing several age groups, both married, single and college.  The class offers a warm, caring, and inviting atmosphere where newcomers and visitors are welcomed.  The class age averages between 20’s and 50’s.

Joe & Hank co-teach this class which consists primarily of people in their 60’s & 70’s; but the class is certainly not limited to this age group!  Members of this close-knit class really care for one another.  They place great emphasis on prayer during class and also support each other in prayer throughout the week.

Friendship
Still alive and learning!
Teacher:            Debby Bookout
This class includes some of our seniors who continue to display a desire to learn how to be better Christians.  Even though we are more mature and have years of experience, we know that God’s not finished with us yet.  This class uses the Church of God Bridges curriculum.  Each study includes a discussion of Bible scripture and its application to our lives.  Handicap accessible.
